Drive for Excellence Results

Student Athletes, Parents, Families, and Friends—

On Tuesday May 9th at Fluor Field in Downtown Greenville, the Greenville Drive in partnership with Greenville County Schools and Furman University hosted our annual Drive for Excellence event at the ballpark celebrating the academic accomplishments of student athletes all across Greenville County. This annual event at Fluor Field is all about recognizing high-achieving student-athletes in Greenville County, as each athlete on teams with a cumulative 4.0 or higher earn a complimentary ticket to the event. In addition, all night long the Drive recognized and celebrated GPA winners across each sport as well as the overall top performing school. This is always one of the most energetic and competitive nights of the year at Fluor Field.

A pregame reception was held for student-athletes and coaches, followed by special guest Bob Richey, head coach of the Furman Basketball team, speaking to the student-athletes.

GCS Schools set new records this year with 10 High Schools recording 4.0 or better GPAs, 152 teams achieving 4.0 or better and raising our Varsity Athlete cumulative GPA to 4.03 for over 5000 athletes. Congratulations to all our athletes, coaches and families for their dedication to
